Drop by Kensington Street for 10 pop-up cellar doors by NSW's next-generation winemakers, curated by award-winning wine communicator, Samantha Payne.

There's no need to book. Just visit us for FREE from 5pm, Friday 3 June and from 12pm Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 June, purchase a reusable wine tasting glass for $7, and receive two wine samples from your winemakers of choice

In addition to Handpicked Cellar Door, there's also a pop-up festival bar serving cocktails by Grant Collins, and street bars with seating to watch all the activity at the Gather on Kensington St food and wine festival

  • At Handpicked Cellar Door, we know how to host a wine party. Join our mini-masterclass and we’ll guide you through the art of putting together a serious cheese plate and pairing it with the right wines. It all comes down to 3 secrets and we’ll share them with you

Travel the Mekong dinner // 5 June

  • Join award-winning Chef, Tiw Rakarin, as he takes you on a culinary journey down the Mekong River with a considered selection of exciting matched wines from Sommelier and Wine Communicator, Samantha Payne.

    Exploring the bright and dynamic flavours across Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar, you’ll delight in the selection of wonderful NSW wines curated by Samantha. This five-course wine dinner is really about the vibrancy of food and wine, how they play together to bring out nuanced notes - as well as the beauty of shared cultural experiences.

    Gather on Kensington Street is so proud to present this wine dinner; a ticketed event held in Mekong’s gorgeous restaurant that over-looks the bustling laneways below.

Tequila & Margarita // Sat 4 Jun

  • Sink into a margarita on arrival at Cartel and munch on delicious snacks of mini tacos and tapas before the learning begins!

    Grant will take everyone over to Spice House, an elevated private space with views over Kensington Street, to learn about the history of the margarita, tequila and mezcal. You’ll enjoy six tequila and mezcal tastings, plus you’ll make a Paloma cocktail and a Churros Espresso. Grant will teach you how to mix a Margarita and the perfect Paloma.

Olio’s Seafood Brunch // Sun 5 June

  • Join comedian, presenter, broadcaster and actual qualified wine expert, Merrick Watts, for a delicious deep-dive into all things boozy and brunch at Olio. The decadent Sicilian Coast-inspired seafood brunch by award-winning chef Lino Sauro will be accompanied by matchy matchy wines selected by Merrick, including Hunter Valley wines from Mercer Wines and M&J Becker.

    You’ll be feasting on a menu of freshly shucked Sydney Rock Appellation oysters, barbequed scallops, kingfish and bowls of bug and 'Nduja gnocchetti.

Pheonix Central Park // 3 - 5 June

  • This June, the Phoenix Central Park Gallery will be open to the public for the very first time to coincide with the Gather Festival.

    The Gallery will be showcasing renowned collector Judith Neilson’s unique selection of contemporary Indigenous art.

    The exhibition features over 100 works from Pukatja ceramics, ceremonial burial poles from the Tiwi Islands and transcendent paintings from The

    Kimberley and Northern Territory. Artists in the exhibition include Nonggirrnga Marawili, Djambawa Marawili AM, Joan Nancy Stokes, Minnie Pwerle and many more.

    Judith is delighted to offer you the opportunity to be amongst the first people to view this exciting exhibition and the magnificent 4 floor gallery space.

Gin Masterclass // Sun 5 jun

  • Enjoy a G&T on arrival at the iconic Gin Lane before moving to Spice House - an elevated private space with views over Kensington Street. Snack on charcuterie and cheese as you do a deep dive into the history of gin and the G&T.

    Grant will then take you through five gin tastings, all the while learning how to mix the perfect martini as well as the classic cocktail, the Southside. The masterclass will be concluded with a Q&A while you sip on your freshly made Southside cocktail

Jung Sung Korean
// 3-5 June

  • Jung Sung, masters of elevated modern Korean food, are disrupting their usual service for Gather on Kensington Street’s food and wine festival.

    From Friday 3 June to Sunday 5 June, each service at Jung Sung will offer matched NSW wines by award-winning Hunter Valley wines, Vinden Wines.

    Michelin-starred chef, Insup Kim, is the talent behind Jung Sung’s fine contemporary four or six-course degustation menu. Complementing his food will be extraordinary wines that have been carefully selected to bring out both the subtle Korean notes in Kim’s food as well as premium local produce used across Jung Sung’s menu.

Automata’s Snack Party // Fri 3 Jun

  • This is one hell of a snack party you won’t want to miss.

    Feat. Clayton Wells (Automata), Mat Lindsay (Ester), Luke Powell (LP’s Quality Meats), Trisha Greentree (Fratelli Paradiso and 10 William St.), Toby Wilson (Ricos Tacos) and Mitch Orr (the soon to open Kiln).
